uplift will reopen once all social distancing measures have been relaxed

Updated 8th June 2021

We still don’t know when Social Distancing measures will be lifted in here Wales. It is looking likely the 21st June date is going to be pushed back. But until those restrictions have been lifted, allowing us to run a full bus, we will not be running. As soon as we are ready, it will be announced online and bookings will reopen. Sorry we can’t be of more help at this point.

Whilst the trails here at Cwmcarn are already open, the uplift will not be starting up until a bit later in the year. We have decided to wait until all social distancing measures have been lifted, so we can run a full bus. If we come back too early and are unable to run at full capacity, or if we have to stop again due to an increase in Covid numbers (Delta Variant-3rd wave), it will be financially worse for us than not running at all.

Looking forward to catching up with you all soon…

As and when you do ride here, you will need to be self sufficient and plan your journey. Please take a look at the Rider Code of Conduct before you leave home.

Cwmdown is one of the original mountain bike uplifts in the UK. Running since 2006, we are here to run you guys to the top of the DH & XC trails at Cwmcarn in South Wales.

With a 250m vertical drop through the epic Cwmcarn landscape, all-weather trails and year round uplift, it’s often seen as one of the definitive UK downhill destinations. Graded Extreme, it offers some steep, technical and challenging trails, whilst still having options for the more intermediate riders.

Local rider Rob Williams shows us a full run, top to bottom on Y Mynydd DH track here at Cwmcarn in South Wales. Trail sections featured in this run are Ace of Spades, Endor, then Top Gun to finish. This was after some heavy rain, so you can see the trails here are suitable all year round, come rain or shine. Take a look on our Vimeo channel for more videos.
